Mind the Gap
Immigration center,
Hartford, CT

au 2019—03

An immigration resource center is filled with contradictory requirements (ie. to be both secure and open, to facilitate assimilation while promoting individual identity, etc.). This building leverages these contradictions to facilitate new types of social interactions through the formal intersection of "cones". In these volumes, immigrant populations can express their cultural identity, control interactions with the public, and strengthen relationships with surrounding Hartford context.
